Meet... The Croissants!

I had a brilliant time last Saturday night at The Croissants' first ever performance! The music was fantastic and not even the buzzing of a particularly persistent wasp could distract this foursome from their gypsy-jazzing mission.

And lucky you - even if you weren't in that Islington garden last sunny Saturday, you can still catch their performance here http://www.youtube.com/user/TheCroissantsBand.

Cards galore!

Have had a busy couple of weeks lately, including a week long school trip to the Isle of White, but have managed to fit in some card making - always one of my favourite illustration jobs!

Beach Huts Pattern Making

My recent Lyme Regis trip has inspored a new illustration series about the British Seaside and here is the first finished piece. There will be more sea-sprayed, wind-whipped, ice-cream-tinted images to come!

Lyme regis

Ahh, beautiful Lyme Regis! Lyme has been my base for the last week and I've been snapping away with my camera to provide inspiration for future illustration work. It was my fourth visit to the area so it really is about time that it featured in some of my work - check back soon!

Wedding Invitations

I've just heard from my lovely friend Louise that the wedding invitations I designed for her have arrived from the printers, so I'm looking forward to seeing them in the flesh - or, rather, post!

Louise and her boyfriend asked me to design 2 invites - one for the family ceremony and one for the evening reception.

One sly fox

This stately creature is a small part of an illustration I'm currently working on. Have also been finishing off wedding invitations for a friend and planning various other bits and pieces. So hopefully that all means there will be more to post soon! Happy weekend everyone!

1 quarter of a future illustration

Doing some re-decorating at the beginning of the school Easter Holidays created a newly blank wall that needs something on it so I am working on a large illustration based on my flat to fill it! I remember when I was little always seeing a cross stitch picture that my Auntie Eileen had done of her home in Glastonbury and so this project is my own illustrated version of that.

It's been too long...

Textural Experimentation

Haven't posted for a while but have been playing around with digital collage work, using a mixture of scanned objects/patterns and textures that I've found on Texture Lovers. Thanks to Tina Webster for pointing me in the Texture Lover's direction!

Pearly King and Queen

I love Half Term; sleeping late, baking, cellar-tidying and time to draw Pearly Kings and Queens. This illustration will be hopefully be part of a collection of work about London which I want to screen print at some point. Fingers crossed.

Poster Commission

The above is part of a commission to design a leaflet and poster to encourage more children to take up Art and Design at exam level - an excellent initiative in my opinion!

The leaflet included a very long list of possible careers for students of Art and Design, which reminded me of my secondary school careers advice where, after one hour seated in front of some inane computer program, I was informed that my creative skills would be most suited to the role of an embalmer... Hopefully this leaflet will steer students in a somewhat less morbid direction.

Sugar & Spice & All Things Nice

I have finally updated my website with my new foodie illustrations - all part of my Sugar&Spice&All Things Nice project. Below is a sneaky preview of my illustration for the weirdly wonderful Brown Bread Ice Cream, but you will just have to check out my website to see the rest, won't you!?

Spare Trees Make Nice Pictures

I drew this tree but never needed it for the illustration I was working on so have turned it into to a little view of bunny-based paradise!

Something sweet

As well as trees and birds I really like drawing food so I am beginning work on an illustration series crammed full of deserts, sweets and all things delicious. Here's a little taste of what's to come to whet* your appetite!
